Lemons and Lemonade

Once again a late post–but, at least this time I have a good excuse!  We spent the weekend down at Wilmington and the beach…

We came back to a flooded basement.  I’m thinking this is our chance to go through our (damp) boxes and see which of the stuff really must be rescued, and which can be thrown out.  Pics of all and sundry adventures forthcoming.

Before descending into the weekend’s madness, we went to one of my all-time favorite restaurants–Firebirds!  We had a gift card from Christmas that was burning a hole in my pocket.  Salmon, steaks, shrimp, soups…my list of favorites from their menu is too long to list, and that’s before ordering desert.

Food so good, it inspires a powerful desire to eat the grilled lemon.  Anyone want to try it for me?

Yeah, this time it was the real deal, though. It swept through the door (we’re guessing Sunday night) and soaked most of the basement, all the way to the crawl space.

Guess this is a very broad hint that we should get all the stuff out of boxes on anything in the basement…high and dry?

In the meantime…we’re contemplating what would be needed to put an end to the frequent basement baths.

Welcome back! Nothing is worse than coming home to a flooded house. We’ve done that a few times. Who wants to clean up that kind of a mess when you’ve got unpacking and re-organizing to do anyway? I hope it’s okay I know about your super secret identity and stalk your blog occasionally. 🙂

I think the super secret identity has slipped the coup, and is well and truly out. Stop by anytime!

And the mess is almost all cleaned up. Now it’s just waiting on the sleeping bags, quilts etc to dry, and sorting through the last couple boxes. Woohoo!
