Ready, Set, Write!

I decided to submit to a Ruins anthology that closes to submissions on April 15th.  I’ve got a story idea that will be a blast to write and is all plotted out–but it’s yet to be started.

Given my usual story word count of around 7 or 8,000 words, after trimming, that means I’ll be writing a total of around 9,000 words before I edit, and that’s assuming I keep it clean and tight the first time around.

Still don’t see the problem?  Well . . .

  • I have company coming tonight for the weekend.
  • The kids are out of school and will be all week.
  • I have a final at the end of the same week.
  • And I have two commitments that I can’t get out of which will eat the majority of two days this week.

Not to mention the usual Mom jobs like catching up the laundry, taking care of meals, getting kids to and from doctors/piano/playdate/dance etc. and just generally keeping the household afloat.

So–I guess I’ll write in my sleep?  And then patent the ability and sell it to other writers . . . hey!  This could be great!
