A bit of this, a bit of that, and some of the other, too

Okay, so Plainbellied tagged me, and I figure that’s as good a reason as any to catch up the plog, whoops, I mean blog.  We’ll get to plogs some other time.

The rules are: List the rules.  Then list three: joys, fears, goals, obsessions, facts.  I guess someone likes three…except that I’m then supposed to tag five people.  We’ll see if I can manage that part.

But, since this is also a catch-up-the-blog post, I’ll be cheating a bit.  You see if you can catch me in the act.

Three joys:

  • I have family, and they love me.  When we were broken down on the side of the road on our way from Denver to Provo, my cousin came and rescued us–despite her having to drive an hour to reach us and said rescue taking place in the willie-winkle hours of the am.
  • I don’t have to travel again for a long time.
  • I get to keep my graduation and WorldCon memories close and hug them dear even when I whine about the luggage that was soaked on the tarmac for hours, checking into our hotel at 6:30am after traveling all night, or the second break-down in the form of a flat tire.  And that’s not counting the trip to urgent care.

Okay, so that was really cheating.  We’ll see if I can make the next bit less info-dumpy.

Three fears:

  • I won’t get the house all packed by Monday morning. (That one’s legit!)
  • My prior publications were a fluke–I’ll be writing for the pleasure of my snide red pen all the remainder of my days.
  • The kids at my son’s new school will be twits and morons (in other words, they won’t like my son) or that I’ll embarass him so badly he files a court order to have me kicked off campus.  The last is just a matter of time.

Goals:

  • Umm, didn’t you read my New Year’s Resolutions?  What, you don’t really read my blog, your browser just got stuck here!?  And now you’re having to listen to me whine–when you’d rather read all the other whiny blogs out there!?  Okay, I’ll stop.

Obsessions.  This one could be hard, ’cause we’re only supposed to list three.  But I have an out:

  • My Mer/Meru stories and world.
  • My Yan/Finder stories and galaxy.
  • Everything else in the universe.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.  So, that about catches us up.  The graduation trip was awesome, we ate great food in the company of fabulous friends and family, played with black powder, used raw chicken to catch crawdads, and, yes, continued our traveling road show of what not to do when on vacation.

When we got back, we realized we couldn’t live in this house a single ‘nother week and promptly set up the move.  I’m now packing.

I think the look of consternation on my face in the photo below, taken just before we entered the Grand Dame’s Ball, was prescience.

Then again, maybe it was the thought of dancing in a hoop skirt.

Thanks so much for the pic, Katie!
