Weekend Blitzer

After quizzing the aquarium staff at the Georgia Aquarium until they must have wondered if I was some kind of secret shopper for all things fishy, then heading over for a two parts delight, one part misery visit to the Terracotta warriors (the misery was due to our arriving at the same time as the school groups), we scooted home from Atlanta.

I think this pic of me smooching a Lip Dog in the World of Coke sums up my impressions of the trip.

We’re accustomed to our trips including speed bumps the size of small mountains, so the fact that this trip went pretty smoothly was a pleasant surprise.  Then again, perhaps we paid our trip karma up front–when we locked ourselves out of the house Tuesday.  I can’t speak for my fellow travelers, but I think I prefer it this way.  I’ll have to remind myself to drop a hammer on my toe or some such idiocy just before the next trip.

This afternoon my dh and I attended a writing event at The Regulator Book shop, here in Durham.  James Maxey and Ed Schubert discussed the art of making money as a writer, and took questions from the audience about all things in the business of writing.  Afterwards several of us went to eat at a lovely little french restaurant, Vin Rouge, where the food was fabulous and the conversation centered on writing, which everyone knows is the most fascinating of all subjects.  Thanks to James for the heads up on this and a hello to everyone who came.

My fellow Ruins’ writers have arranged an event for all the Hadley Rille Ruins anthos in Seattle on May 1st and 2nd.  More info here, and best of luck to them all!

Hmmm, I’m thinking this is insulting no matter how I turn it. Maybe it’s time to go comment on your blog, eh? 🙂

Yes, this is one of those comments that you think about, rationalize, hit submit, and then start second guessing yourself and remembering one of my Laws of Me: I think I am more clever than I actually am.
