Every year in the weeks after Halloween, I fight a battle. The fight to keep Christmas stuffed firmly in its box until after Thanksgiving.
And, okay, we may have slipped and let some Christmas music out last weekend…but after all, we were working on Christmas presents!
Here’s a little Thanksgiving display from the mantle that I’m using to keep myself in the autumnal mood:
And for some reason, our first turkey egg seems kinda appropriate, too.
The sun is shining, the sky is blue, the leaves on the trees are crimson and gold–I can ignore the fact that my spare time is spent working on handmade Christmas presents and enjoy this season. Even when that also means patiently working away at a writing project that’s not my favorite (i.e., not 13 Demon Days) but needs edits before I can send it off the end of November, and get back to the Raven twins and their beetlebums. Can’t you sense my extraordinary reservoir of patience?
