This is the kind of post that should come with a warning. If you are my neighbor, have been my neighbor, or will someday be my neighbor, this post is not directed at you. We’re cool, okay? No hard feelings?
Good.
See, the trouble is, I have a new neighbor, and they stole my land. Of course, it wasn’t really my land…it actually belonged to the neighbors father…but I planned to buy it someday. Our own beloved 4+ acres is very lovely, but just a bit small. And the edge of the property ends awfully close to the house and driveway on one side. But, not to worry, the ten acres next door were empty and would make just the addition I was looking for–
Until said neighbor came along and plunked her house on it. Worse, the plunking of the house is ongoing, so the sounds of hammering, engines and a really loud generator have replaced our quiet sounds of nature.
I’m sure the neighbor will be very nice.
But even as I do the neighborly thing and wish her a warm welcome, I’ll be dreaming of acres of land without any neighbors.
