Demon Love, with Crackers

The blog’s been neglected, the Christmas is still stacked ramble-bamble in a corner of the kitchen and I’ve turned ‘what’s for dinner’ over to the almost fourteen-year-old.

Scary?  Naw.  I couldn’t be happier.  In fact, I wax so effusive that my family, being the darling dears they are, has thrust this blog in front of me and suggested I share the joy here rather than telling them all about it one more time.

You might wonder at the source of all this love.  Could it be Valentine’s Day, you ask?  Or perhaps that the groundhog predicted the end of winter?  Or maybe I’m loving the football and basketball action of my team?

Uh…how about demons and the near end of the world!  13 Demon Days, to be specific, and my novel revisions, to be exact.  I came home from SCBWI with my brain on fire and the upstairs furnace is still going strong.  I’ve killed darlings, added a pseudo-cameo from cousin IT, discovered my favorite new (magical) snack and ::drumroll::  I’ve even plotted out my new points on a spreadsheet.  Gasp!  I know–when the spreadsheet comes out, the world [of this household] stops to stare in wonder.

Yay for re-writes!  And also for crackers with banana slices and spicey red pepper jelly!  Yay for that, too.

Demonic Jelly

They go together quite naturally ’cause they’re delicious, see?  And the snack has an almost demonic zing which is guaranteed to boost my re-writing energy.  If not, I call in the demon and he gives me a kick in the pants and wolfs down the cracker.  That does it, too.

Share, share away:
