I spotted this bunch of perfumed sunshine while hiking along a trail near our house.
They were nodding in time to a rockin’ frog song. I came home curious who the singers were, and think I found a match in the Cope’s Gray Tree Frog, but if I’m right–and that’s a big if–he’s early. Not supposed to sing until April. Maybe he’s got spring fever, too?
But who doesn’t love an early spring? There’s hiking, grilling, gardening–we’ve even gone so far as to try on swimsuits, but we have the excuse that we’ll use them in Disney World the end of this month. Of course, spring also means the return of ticks, the flu, and at our house, a massive ant invasion. The troops are about this big–
And well-trained in evasion tactics. We haven’t even figured out how they’re getting in. As strong and smart as ants are purported to be, it’s unfortunate we’ve never figured out a way to domesticate the little buggers and put them to work!
But, should I be tempted to whine about the downsides of spring, all I need do is close my eyes and think back. Way back. To a month ago when I was fussing over the cold and longing for warm weather and sunshine. That generally shuts me up.
