Happy Memorial Day!

I focus a lot on the many great books which get written and read, and books are super important to me.  But there were stories before there were books, both in human history and in my own life.  Some of those stories are written on our hearts and never spoken aloud.  Some get tucked away in dusty journals, but may never be read.  Many are lived out in the big wide world, then told to friends, family, kids and grandkids around campfires in the evening.

Those are some of the most precious stories to me, and today I’m going to honor them and remember them.  There isn’t a cover to share, but you can hear them in the whispering of the wind, the echo of a laugh or a sigh, the popping of a log on the fire.  Have a great Memorial Day, and I’ll see you next week!

Great post! This makes me think of the family stories that we pass down and cherish–some of ours are about those who fought for us. Happy Memorial Day!

Thank you Joanne, Jenni! That’s exactly what I was thinking of–all the oral stories which get passed on, but are so important to a families sense of identity and which serve to keep remembrance and gratitude alive.

Happy Memorial Day to both of you!

Thank you, Sandy! I think our family’s story telling times happen on long car rides more often than around a fire, but it’s the image of the fire that fuels them. 😉
