The last of our company left today. We’ve had at least one extra person in the house since the second week of June, and our total number of people bedding down reached about twenty. Surprisingly, everyone was accomodated, there were no bloody spats over couch territory, and the left-overs do not exceed the space limitations of our fridge.
We laughed, cried, ate lots of chocolate and played lots of games, but it was good to have the house echo emptiness today.
Of course, later this week we’ll have a few guests boomerang back to us for a quick night’s sleep before heading west, and this weekend another friend comes into town.
With her four children, which number amongst their company three very active and vocal boys.
Something tells me that this silence should be savored.
