A Comedy of Errors and a Memorial Revisited

I’ve been enjoying the fluff and stuff hitting the fan over the SFWA vs. Cory Doctorow showdown.  I’m aware that my finding the whole thing amusing is probably unkind, just as my quietly laughing when I whiz by people stuck in traffic, while I take the commuter lane, is undoubtably small-minded of me.

I’ll try to reform.  In the meantime, if you want a bit more info you can visit SMD’s blog, or maybe go to the Scalzi view, which seems to include the best sum-up of events.

On a more serious note, my thoughts this September 11th are turned toward war and terror, memories and life.  I feel a little guilty that I was so bleary eyed this morning that the kids didn’t wear the planned red, white and blue.  I also dare not stop long to consider what that oversight on my part might suggest…

After all, if I put the brakes on my life and lived in the past, I wouldn’t be a terribly productive American, no matter how worthy those memories might be.  It’s a balancing thing, I suspect.

Here’s to balance this September 11th.
