A couple of the neighbors have dogs which we say hi to whenever they’re out. Occassionally as I watch their enthusiasitc exploration of the neighborhood I remember fondly all the long walks under the trees, games in the yard, and doggy love which I enjoyed with our Brittany, many years ago. Once in a while I even wonder if we could find a dog which got along with the ferrets, and if I’ll ever have time for a canine companion again.
Today our neighbor’s dog reminded me of a couple other charms in dog ownership. In less than five minutes he’d pooped in the yard, sprayed on the ornamental grasses, and swiped doggy saliva all over my dress pants.
Perhaps I should pick him up a doggy treat, the next time I’m in Petsmart, as a thank you for his curteous reality check.
