Origami

I found the Extreme Sport of Origami a fascinating look at one of my favorite subjects.  I love to watch the creation of Origami, and I’ve always liked the idea of taking it up.  I almost certainly won’t progress beyond basic forms if I do.  It seems to require single-minded devotion from the practitioners, and I’ve never been single-minded in my focus.

But Origami will continue to fascinate.  It always seems to leak a bit of magic that catches at the edges of my mind.  Perhaps the corners of my brain assign a greater impossibility rating to the complex bits of folded paper than I should, but surely there is some transforming element, subject to laws outside our normal time and space, which weighs into the creation of this art.

Perhaps that is another reason to never become too adept myself.  An up close understanding of the mechanics involved might deter my sense of wonder; for now I’d rather glimpse the magic than enjoy true comprehension of the creation.
