Another great study in the science of ‘duh’ has found that Celebrities are more narcissitic than average folks.  They’re defining narcissism as self-love.

Of course, when I saw this I thought, ‘Okay, tell me what else is new,’ but then I got to thinking about the whole issue.  Why is it so obvious?  Because they only talk about themselves and their own work?  Because their work involves long hours in the spotlight, with attention trained upon them?  Because they can’t seem to stay in a long-term relationship?

Of course I’m generalizing, (no angry people emailing to tell how they know of exceptions, please) but I wonder if they’re narcissitic as a survival mechanism.  With so many people looking at you, quoting you, and plastering their walls with photos of your face, if you weren’t narcissitic you’d soon go crazy or implode.

So here’s a thought–maybe they should do a study to see if the most narcissitic stars are more successful, and if the less self-loving stars go crazy.
