A Picture Report on the Land of the Yellow Stone

We’re not home yet, but I have internet.  Hooray!  That plus a soft bed and a laptop equal a blog, wouldn’t you say?  Here are a few highlights from our Yellowstone trip.

sawmill-geyser

This geyser has nothing like the popularity of Old Faithful, but it proved to be my favorite.  It had an amusing habit of spraying sulphur-scented water over everyone coming down the boardwalk.

buffalo-before-charge

Here’s a buffalo as taken on my cell camera.  He wasn’t thrilled that we were walking on the path next to him, but he was willing to put up with it…

buffalo-after-charge

Until someone looked at him cross-eyed.  Here I’m much farther down the path, having decided that distance was well-advised.  The buffalo didn’t quite charge, he just rumbled down the hill straight at a group of teens and nicely divided the group in two.

dragon-breath-geyser

This is just a quick shot of the Dragon’s Breath.  We thought about asking the dragon to come out and pose, but decided our sword-fighting techniques weren’t up to the encounter should he take exception with our camera flash.

Here we have a nice, calm picture of the Yellowstone River taken nowhere near its thundering waterfalls.  The kids swam in it at one point, but failed to earn the 25 cents offered them if they could swim all the way up the falls.

I hope you all had a great week and will join me in giving thanks for simple things like beds that feel homey and dinner that is not cooked in the dark!
