Elisa hesitated in front of the door. She shouldn’t go back to the bar- she should let the guys be, and leave quietly. She would do that.
The door opened and Tina poked her head in- spotted Elisa.
“There you are-” she said. “Ron sent me to find you. Said he was afraid you’d gotten sick or something.”
“No, I’m fine,” Elisa said. She brushed past Tina. Ron was waiting just outside the door, and Eric was leaning against the wall.
They both spoke.Â
“I ordered you another-” Ron said.
“You need to try this new shaft-” Eric said.
They glared at each other. Elisa smiled. She stepped forward, into the space between them. She got a confused look on her face, and raised a hand to her forehead. She swayed.
Both men rushed forward. When she stepped away, they collided.Â
Elisa smiled again as she walked to the door, her ears filled with the pleasant sound of two men working themselves into a fighting frenzy.
The exit door chimed.
Eric looked up. Ron’s fist swung through the air. Eric stepped aside, caught Ron by the shoulder.Â
“Listen, Ron,” he said. “Our little bird has flown the coop.”
Eric turned and headed toward the door, Ron in tow.
