Our seven-year-old has decided to weave and craft her Christmas presents this year, and together we’re discovering a fascinating new world of looms, shuttle sticks, warp and weft. Our conversations in the craft store tend to go like this:
Daughter: “Mom, like at this one!”
Me: “Wow, that’s pretty. Look at the sparkles on the yarn.”
Daughter: “Which one should we get, the sparkly, or the extra-soft one?”
Me:Â “Oh, let’s just get them both.”
It’s always a dangerous thing when she who holds the purse strings has less control than the child.
