Post Article ‘Pearls Before Breakfast’

This was a grea hoax, and a great article by the Washington Post.  I am grateful to feel confident I would have stopped, because I always stop for the street musicians if they’re any good at all. But that brings up a point. You see, I’m not a commuter.  I work from home, on a flexible schedule,

The $64 Tomatoe

I owe this book my sanity. Not only in the here and now, for giving me something real and funny to keep me going through my math class, but also for saving me from the wonderful world of worm pee, hand-pollination, and all-out war with the local flora and fuana. Which is to say, I

To Weigh a Rejection Letter

How much do your rejection letters weigh?  Do they add up to a pound? Imagine you had an ancient scale.  You take it out, dust it off, and set it on the desk.  Now pile your rejection letters on one side.  What would you place on the other?  Missing your favorite show for three years

Serenity vs. Star Wars

I personally would rather watch Firefly (I have the complete set) over Star Wars, but I might choose Star Wars over Serenity. Of course, I refer only to the original three Star Wars shows.

Ready, Set, Write!

I decided to submit to a Ruins anthology that closes to submissions on April 15th.  I’ve got a story idea that will be a blast to write and is all plotted out–but it’s yet to be started. Given my usual story word count of around 7 or 8,000 words, after trimming, that means I’ll be writing a total

Ferret Jerky Recall

The latest round of pet food recalls includes Dingo Chicken Jerky for Ferrets.  Luckily my carpet sharks prefer another brand–but just in case, I think we’ll lay of the treats for awhile. Can’t imagine why, but I feel no enthusiasm at the thought of witnessing/experiencing salmonella posioning just now.

Roman Numerals

I don’t know where I was when everyone else was picking up their roman numerals–perhaps making a braided rug from rainbow socks, or befriending a hive of bees–but I wasn’t sorting out the little V’s and X’s. Now, because of the WOTF contest, I want to know what they mean!  So here’s a link that

Writers of the Future

I postmarked my Tiger Goddess story to WOTF on this the last day of the 2nd quarter.  It’s kind of short, but I did give it a twist ending they may like.  We’ll see. This may sound bad, but my main hope would be to finish at quarter-finalist, just cause that’s what my other stories
