Both the kids had games this morning. The daughter’s at 9:00am, the son’s at 10:00, so both of them needed to be ready to roll by 8:30ish, and if it was up to me they’d have been practicing as well. But these are kids we’re talking about, and not terribly ambitious kids, either.Â
I put thoughts of my Warrior’s Flame rewrite aside and determined to show a good attitude.
So I counted silently to ten when I found my son dressed up in his Halloween costume at 8:25.  I breathed deep when our daughter emptied the kleenex box looking for just the right one. I helped her change into warmer clothes when she refused to warm up by running around in her game. I ground my teeth and smiled while our son stood around on the field, commenting on the game instead of playing it. And I kept my hands out of my hair when they both spilled juice in the car on the way home.
Gotta love these soccer mornings. Only four weeks left in the season, so I’d better enjoy it while I can. But I won’t have to pine when it ends. Basketball season is coming up.
