My daughter chose a candy corn costume for Halloween, and planned to wear it in her preschool Halloween parade today.
But yesterday when she told the kids what she would wear, they said that sounded yummy–and apparently some of them were quite convincing. She came home worried.
“Mom,” she said. “The kids say they’re going to eat my costume.”
I laughed. “Oh, that’s cute. They must like candy corns.”
“But, Mom–“ she said. “I think they really mean it!”
The sweet concerns of a four-year old. I persuaded her to trust her classmates, and as no one took a taste today I think she’ll wear it Halloween. Â
I’m glad, and not just ’cause we’re down to the wire on the costume deadline.  She was so adorable today, and the costume was a big hit with kids and adults alike.  I’d hate to see her refuse to wear it on the big night.
It’s probably just as well she didn’t see some of the crowd looking around for a sweet treat after she walked by.
