Organizational Desperation

My dh has been suggesting for years that I get all things writing organzied, so at last I ordered a file cabinet.  When it came, I used it (still in the box) for lovely wall decor for, oh–about four months.  Finally I got it put together, but still it sits empty of files or tabs.

It’s not that I don’t want to be organized, it’s just that I’ve done fine keeping things in my head, with a backup online in my writers group and maybe a few notebooks here and there.

But then our group site experienced a technical gliche just as I sent out another batch of stories and misplaced the notebook.

Bad–very bad.

I’ve since been wracking my brains and ringing out my emails to figure out which stories got sent where.  To make matters worse, some of the stories on my list ‘to be sent’ didn’t go out because the market would be reopening shortly.  So just because I remembered writing down a story doesn’t mean I sent said story.

After much biting of the cheek and beating of the brow I found the notebook, and have also had the online page restored.  With a deep breath to steady my nerves I moved forward in the submission process, and sent out those stories waiting in cue.

And the file cabinet?  It’s about to get a big present: all the folders and file tabs it could ever use, complete with fully-organized written material and notes.
