Pining After a Rejection

Do you ever get the feeling that you just want news?  Because I have several stories that have been out for awhile, and because I’m used to getting rejections on an almost weekly if not more frequent basis, I’m finding myself checking my inbox for news.

Any news.

Of course, I’m not such a chit that I’ve put my writing on hold until I hear.  One story (the one that gave me a face plant the other day) is going into rewrites as we speak, while I’ve also begun making progress on my gladiator story again.  It’s been stuck for some time, but I’ve finally plotted it out to my satisfaction and the gladiators have come back out to play.

But still, even with my time productively occupied, I find that I crave news.  Any news.

I totally agree with you! I’ve grown accustomed to receiving rejections fairly soon after submission, so now that it’s been taking longer to get them I’ve been growing quite antsy.

I’ve been waiting on my longest one ever since January 2nd. I went through a period of checking multiple times a day to now just trying to forget it’s out there. Waiting for me. Lurking. Hiding in the shadows of slow response times. God help me, I’m going to check again.

January 2nd! I assume this is within the markets normal response time? Must be IGMS, or maybe Black Gate.

(will I be in trouble because I said that?)

It’s funny, but I find that in spite of wanting news, I can be slow to query if the response time goes over their stated times. Let sleeping dogs lie, and all that.
