Donuts for dinner

I generally feed my family nutritious and balanced meals, and make a rule of including 2-3 veggies with every dinner –

But there’s always the exception to the rule.  Sometimes, when a deadline is pressing, we’ll pass on the pizza and have breakfast for dinner.

Pancakes or french toast, with lots of maple syrup.  Scrambled eggs and cheese.  Cold cereal with milk.  Or maybe donuts, like we had tonight.  Some with coconut flakes or sprinkles, alongside the lemon filled and bavarian cream.

Since even pastries need something to go alongside, we also had a bit of bacon and glasses of milk.  My husband, using the typical parental voice, told the kids, “Remember, if you want seconds, it has to be just plain glazed.”
