Bobbing Heads

It’s been a while since I blogged, but if you were to turn my life of late into a picture metaphor, I’d be shown standing mid-stream and fully submerged except my head, bobbing on top of the water.

This may not sound incredibly comfortable, but it beats being six inches further submerged, I’m sure you’d agree.  And, assuming one can tread water and no big waves come rolling down, this position can actually be maintained for a surprising amount of time.

In the interest of keeping said wave at bay, I’ll update in a bulleted list:

  • On the writing front, my latest story is getting the posh salon treatment under a fine-tooth comb before I send it out.  My kids have requested two of my trunk stories to mess with.  I’m reading through my leaning tower of books in order to better understand the oceanic niches and micro-cultures of the sea.  Someday I want a bit of beach and marsh, complete with a sea otter.

  • Our dog and cats are still at war.  Zeke is just fast enough to avoid Shadow’s claws, but just dumb enough to think he can go on avoiding him forever.  We expect to be bandaging his nose anyday.

  • Without going into personal details, I’ve recently doubled the demands on my ‘free’, time, then decided I was not busy enough and doubled them again.  This might go a small ways toward the neglect of this blog, though of course I also freely admit that said neglect was inexcusable.

  • We’re contemplating an addition to our house.  Even more frightening, we’re contemplating doing some of the work ourselves.  Let me know when you find my sanity and I’ll pay you handsomely for it’s return.

And that about wraps it up.  Lots of good things in the works, however ungainly their progression.

Share, share away:

Holy Cow–you really are crazy! We’ve done little jobs ourselves, and they always drag ON and ON and ON! Somehow the rest of life (especially when the rest of life is already very full) just always gets in the way.

That sounds kind of like how I’ve been for the last 3 days… good luck with your remodeling! By the way, I was going to come say hi last week at church but you disappeared before I got there.

Bummer I missed you! We were running around connecting with those we had to, then skying for home.

Yes, the remodeling is crazy. And will drag on, I don’t doubt…I’m still making up my mind if I’m ready to do this.

Otoh, we have remodeled two houses before, and done it in record time…because we had a deadline hanging over our heads. So I know it can be done, and I know the time it takes…which would be why I think I’m cray. 😉
