Online Again

We headed west for a wedding early last week, but as I had every intention of spending plenty of time blogging I said no online goodbyes. After the disfunction of my laptop, numerous internet problems in the hotel, and a week of hurry and scurry, I’m home again and will finally-at last-be spending time blogging.

Happy Rainbows

I came across this photo of rare upside-down rainbows.  I’d never heard of such a thing, myself.  The sight is setting my brain churning in all kinds of desperate writerly-sf directions. What if a world existed that only had these up-curved rainbows?  There’d be no dreams of leprechauns and pots of gold, no lucky puddles

Are We Done with the Oscars Yet?

Am I the only one who doesn’t care a twit about the Oscars?  I’ve never watched them yet, and don’t plan to unless someone I know personally is nominated–so I’m pretty safe.  And while I did have an interest in movies/actors who won awards during the years that the LOTR movies were in the running,

Top Plusses of Geeky Guys

Here’s a funny list I couldn’t resist posting, Why Geeks and Nerds are Worth it . . ., which I linked to through John Scalzi’s blog.  A few favorites would be: 1.) While geeks and nerds may be awkward, they’re well-meaning 9 out of 10 times. That smooth dude with the sly grin and the

Spam Infiltration

You may have noticed my sudden breach in spam detection–I obviously need to up the controls.  What’s puzzling is why I’m suddenly getting plastered, and how they’re getting through my spam block. Not that my detections are so great, just that the ‘bots didn’t get through before.  And if they had to bust in on the party, couldn’t

Candygram

I think I recieved my first candygram at age 8 or 9, but my most memorable was certainly the one my husband and I recieved when we were married.  It was filled with such darling comments as:  When the bride get CHUNKY and pops her BUTTONS you can buy her DIET food . . .

A Baby-step Toward the 21st Century

I burned some CDs last night.  Not noteworthy?  Well, brace yourself.  This is getting noted because . . . It was my first time! Incredible, really.  I don’t know how someone can grow up in the Nineties, have friends in college burning party music right and left, marry a computer-savvy guy, and live in a
