No, not our little eggers. They have more than two weeks to go. These are the little peepers we had shipped from a hatchery. We got the brood boxes ready for them Wednesday night and crossed our fingers they’d ship well. Then the post office called early Thursday morning to say they were in. We walked into the post office with bated breath, and could hear the sound of peep, peep, peeping from our very loud little chicks that wanted to come home and get under the heat lamps!
Here are a pile of them, right out of the box. If you look closely, you can even see their little pipping tooths.
In the pic below is one of the two turkey chicks. It’s so fun to see them snuggle in with the golden bunch, but also fun to see how different they are from the ‘chicken’ chicks.
The day was packed for us–a full and fun day. Apparently the chicks thought it was pretty tiring, too.  After all, on their first day of life they took a cross-country trip! I’d say they earned that heat lamp, and a long nap, too.
