Defying the Groundhog

I’ve decided that winter can be a state of the mind, and I’m not participating in it.  Even after the Florida trip–or maybe, because the FL trip was so chilly–I’ve been finished with winter for several weeks now.  And the weather really hasn’t been bad.  Nothing a little perspective can’t claim is spring capriciousness at work.

The first step towards liberating ourselves from winter is to really claim every day that feels halfway decent and focus on it’s warmth and sunshine.  Accordingly, we took the family on a hike along the Eno river after church yesterday, and today my dh and I extended our walk/jog a bit further.  Now, the weathermen are expecting tomorrow to be colder, but we’ll just take the opportunity to build a fire and be glad that spring still has the occasional chill day.  There will be no talk of winter here.
